I think Grant Gustin did a fantastic job. So while DeVoe is shaping up to be the first non-speedster villain to headline a season, he certainly has enough power to take on heroes like Wally West and Jay Garrick. Tl dr - the season definitely had flaws, but I still managed to enjoy it a lot. Last but not least, Wells' Brooklyn/Italian accent was funny. There was more than one time where Barry had to convince Ralph to stop joking around, and what it means to be a superhero. My issue with that Ralph seemed to progress and digress. I was pretty sad when he died, but happy he came back - even if that could be seen as a cop out. I really loved Ralph's arc of being a joke but then wanting to save his friends and be a true hero. It angered me more because he was setup and didn't really do anything wrong. I thought it was a little cheap that both Oliver and Barry ended up in prison and got out in similar ways, but I actually liked Barry's version of that a little more. Why did everyone still consider Iris as leader even though Barry was back at the beginning of the season? My wife and I both groaned at "hashtag feminism" and I would agree that there was a bunch of filler episodes (really hated the episode with the bomb that technically only lasted 8 minutes). I just finished Season 4 a minute ago, and similar with Arrow Season 6, I loved it. You'll question your sanity after and you'll also question if the writers were professionals that went to college or not. If you havent watched season 4 or havent caught up and have only watched season 1 and 2 well dont watch season 4. When you watch Flash season 1 then 4 you can notice a physical quality drop happen. In fact the entire season seems like it was written by 12 year olds. The humor was like it was written by 12 year olds with fart jokes and other cringey humor. The one really good thing of season 4 was the really nice looking Flash suit and "Enter Flashtime". The heart of the show during season 1 and 2 was ripped out and replaced with whatever they gave us during season 4. Season 4 also felt bland and generic and cliche and the soundtrack was all of that and more. The main villains plan was to make everyone in the world dumb so he could make them smart himself, he was also boring and meaningless and cliched and all he did was switch bodies with each actor being worse than the last, the season finale was a Matrix rip off with a boring climax and predictable and boring cliffhanger.
